Large Scale Grid Connected Battery Energy Storage Systems

Grid Connected Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)

As the UK’s transition to renewable electricity continues, the imbalance between generation and demand widens. Renewables, such as large-scale solar and wind power can generate considerable levels of energy, but not necessarily when it’s required. To mitigate this, renewables are installed in a dynamic range of locations, on- and offshore. This is to ensure that whenever they generate power it can be added to the network. This is a costly method as it requires far more capacity than peak demand and the infrastructure to accommodate all of this extra generation on the grid isn’t expected before 2032.

The disparity between generation and demand results in a wide margin between the cost of energy throughout the day and throughout the year. A unit of electricity (e.g. 1 kWh) at 1:00 in the morning is inexpensive compared to a kWh at 4:30 in the afternoon.

SRM Solar believes therefore that it can leverage its long-standing expertise with renewable energy and infrastructure to develop and deliver medium scale grid-tied energy storage solutions on the MWh scale, that can be connected providing long term grid balancing and trading opportunities.

In addition to ensuring grid stability, SRM’s automated battery systems can store off-peak energy for use when demand requires it.

Connected to the 11 – 132kV ring, with a 10-year guarantee, the battery systems can be installed in a variety of locations to interface with local sub and primary stations.

These solutions can turn land that isn’t deemed viable for building or for renewable generation to be utilised and given long term value. SRM’s network of suppliers, engineers, technicians, and traders, along with its relationship with the ESO enables us to determine the validity of a location and its revenue potential.

Commercial Building Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

Battery energy storage systems, or BESS, are revolutionising the energy market and are critical to unlocking a decarbonised energy landscape. SRM can assist businesses to improve resilience, reduce dependence on the grid and improve control over energy consumption.

For significant power consumption businesses, such as data centres, or industrial applications, BESS can provide considerable cost savings and provide resilience in terms of protection against potential power outages.

SRM supply and install Tier 1 battery solutions, uniquely designed to supply you with a purpose designed solution, or as part of a wider renewable Solar PV solution.

SRM services includes a full design, contracting and equipment supply service, and O&M if required.
